Waddle it be, fellas?

The Little Duck Diner in Savannah, Georgia, is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. However, their branding leaves much to be desired. The illustrations are reminiscent of Howard the Duck (not in a good way), they lose a bit of their southern charm by leaning into Roaring 20s vibes, and they really could just use a refresh. I took it upon myself to redesign their logo and visual system.

family effort.

According to their site, The Little Duck Diner is inspired by 1920s-1930s dining car aesthetics, with their menu being a reflection of their children’s favorite meals. The new mallard-and-son logo highlights a warm, parental relationship while imitating the shape of pull-toys, which not only resemble train cars, but were the most popular children’s toy in the 1930s.

This brand shines because it can do charming illustrative work while still standing strong as a vectorized icon. We’re bringing older analog looks into the 21st century!
